I haven’t posted anything in over a year. Not because I haven’t been writing and studying and learning, but because life sort of blew up and holding on tightly to God’s strength and peace was all I could do. By the end of the year I hope to publish the next book in the series, The Delight of Truth, and a daily devotional. Following is a page from my new devotional. I pray you are blessed and challenged to keep your focus heavenward even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
In an ever-changing world, constancy provides stability. Knowing there is something you can count on and someone you can trust keeps your purpose sure. As God’s child, you have the most precious gift of His word – a volume of His love and promises for you that will never change. You are His disciple, living for the advancement of His kingdom, for His glory. No matter the circumstances you face today, your relationship with God, your salvation in Him, and your purpose in Him, remains the same.
Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
God alone is perfect in all ways; His word is without error.
Think of what it means to be perfect – no flaws, no blemishes, nothing lacking, complete. God’s word is truth, it is accurate, and it is thorough. And it has the power to restore a soul. Nothing and no one else is able to touch the innermost part of a human and convert their understanding of truth. If you are able, think back to before you were called by God. I did not even realize the need I had for God’s intervention in my life. Consider the Apostle Paul. He was heartily serving the Roman government by persecuting Christians. He thought he was doing what was right! Then God stopped him literally in his tracks and allowed Paul to see God’s glory and his need for a Savior.
God is faithful, His word is true and will continue throughout time. It has the power to drastically change a life, and to give understanding and wisdom to those who by faith, trust in Him.
The challenge: to remember that the gift of God’s word is precious and is given to His children for a purpose – so that we might know and understand our Lord and Savior, to serve Him with our whole heart. To be committed to the reading and studying of God’s word.
PRAY. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being my strong foundation, the One I can count on at all times, through every circumstance. Help me to treasure Your written word for its true value. Help me to live Your word for Your glory.
